Anticipated start date September 8, 2012

*Grades served 3rd through 6th then expanding in each direction yearly until K-8, eventually serving K-12.

*There is NO COST to attend a Charter School!!

*Extended day of instruction 8 am - 5 pm.

*The Academy will be serving students throughout the Kern County area.

*Rigorous academic standards emphasizing Arts and Sciences preparing your child for college and beyond.

*Students will be required to wear approved pants/skirts, shirts and ties (boys only) and jackets (all students).

*Parents and/or guardian will be encouraged to volunteer quarterly and attend or send a family representative to every PTSA meeting.

*Currently we have the Smothers Academy Huskies Tackle Football Team playing with the Sequoia League Youth Football program and the Smothers Academy Cheerleaders.  **See Academy Football link above.

*High School and permanent location soon to follow.

*As the process for Charter acceptance proceeds we will update this website to keep you informed. 

                                                        IMPORTANT DATES!

* October 1, 2009 Charter petition and supporting documents were delivered to the Superintendent of Greenfield Union School District Mr. Chris Crawford.  The district will review the documents and contact Mr. Smothers with questions or concerns regarding the Charter petition. 

* October 10, 2009 School uniform designer and vendor will be in Bakersfield, CA to present his ideas for the school jackets, ties, and skirts.

* October 28, 2009 7:00pm The Greenfield Union School Board will hear public comment.

*November 12, 2009 7:00pm The Greenfield Union School Board will make its' decision regarding the Smothers Academy Charter petition. Please be in attendance 1624 Fairview Road.

*Based on the Board meeting we have decided to retract the petition, make necessary changes and resubmit in early 2010.  We are committed to the final product and are anticipating the approval and opening of the Academy for the 2012 school year.
